Commonwealth Games enters virtual reality

For the first time, a major sporting event is being streamed live to a virtual reality headset.

At the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, a 360 degree camera captures video and sound from the gymnastic competitions and sends it in real-time, over the internet, to a headset located in the Glasgow Science Centre.

Two screens and motion sensors in the headset help create the illusion that the wearer is in the crowd watching the competition.

BBC Click's Dan Simmons reports.
