Oscar de la Renta: Life and work in pictures

Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta, who dressed former first ladies Jackie Kennedy and Hillary Clinton, has died aged 82.

He was a favourite of Hollywood actresses and dressed stars from Penelope Cruz to Oprah Winfrey - most recently designing Amal Clooney's wedding dress.

Oprah Winfrey attended the famous Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute gala in New York with the designer in 2010, one of the highlights of the fashion calendar. In 2013 De la Renta was presented with the founder's award at the CFDA Fashion Awards in New York (right), by former US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
