A football fan has carved pumpkin versions of Manchester's two Premier League managers ahead of their clubs' derby match on Halloween weekend.

Simon McMinnis spent 25 hours on the sculptures of United's Louis Van Gaal and City's Manuel Pellegrini.

The tiler from Poulton, Lancashire used pumpkins weighing 33lbs (15kg) each.

The United fan said he hoped his rendering of Van Gaal would help him "carve his way into the Manchester derby history books".

He said the pumpkins, which he carved earlier in October, have since been composted.

The Manchester clubs face each other at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
