Andrew Flintoff struggled on his Brisbane Heat debut as they suffered a 56-run defeat by Sydney Thunder in the Australian Big Bash.

The former England captain, 37, conceded 25 runs in his two overs and was dismissed for a third-ball duck.

He signed for Brisbane in October after playing for Lancashire in the T20 Blast final loss to Birmingham Bears.

Eoin Morgan, in his first outing since being named England one-day captain, made an unbeaten 12 for Sydney.

Sydney reached 208-1 after a 160-run opening stand between Mike Hussey (96) and Jacques Kallis (97 not out), and Brisbane were dismissed for 152 in reply.

Flintoff was forced to quit cricket in 2010 through ankle and knee injuries, but began training with Lancashire again last summer and earned a T20 contract.
