Car ownership reaches record high in China - in 50 seconds

China gained an additional 17 million new cars in 2014, taking ownership to a record 154 million - according to its Ministry of Public Security.

Cars have now replaced motorcycles as the main means of transport, it added, comprising 58.6% of all motor vehicles - up from 43.9% five years ago.
