Australian football star Adam Goodes has again been booed, just weeks after he became embroiled in a racism row.

The Indigenous Australian is regularly jeered by spectators but in recent weeks his treatment sparked a fierce debate over racism in Australia.

During games Goodes, 35, has faced abuse from spectators, including being told to "get back to the zoo", inspiring the #IstandwithAdam campaign.

Fans took to social media once again after Sunday's game.

"Early stages and it seems some @stkildafc fans are booing Adam Goodes and him alone. Please, surely we're beyond this? #HopeImHearingThings", radio host Adam Spencer tweeted.

One fan who was at Etihad Stadium said he heard the boos.

"You're not hearing things. First thing the kid in front of me did when we sat down was boo Goodsie," Craig Radford tweeted.

But not all fans believed the booing was racially motivated.

"Sorry but isn't there a good chance Adam Goodes is being booed just because he's on the opposite team? Why is racism the assumption?" one user tweeted.

Goodes is a vocal advocate for indigenous issues and wants to see Aboriginal people recognised by the Australian constitution.

The dual Brownlow Medallist and 2014 Australian of the Year helped the Sydney Swans defeat the St Kilda Saints by 97 points.
