Row over Newhaven Ho Chi Minh statue plan

You may remember Ho Chi Minh as a Vietnamese Communist revolutionary, or a dictator. But the town of Newhaven has chosen to remember him differently.

It wants to erect a city centre statue of him - as an adopted son of Newhaven - that celebrates his work as a pastry chef on board the ferry to Dieppe.

He reportedly worked on the ferry and made a number of trips to the East Sussex town.

But one MP has asked the council to rethink its plans, as Newsnight's Stephen Smith reports.
