GBBO inspires baking, icing and piping

Ron Austin, 63, from Bygrave in Hertfordshire, made this cake for his granddaughter's christening. The cake is a lemon drizzle sponge, covered in a lemon curd cream, and topped with blueberries, lavender and caramelised nuts. It took around two hours to make.

Christine Adamson, 50, works as a nurse in Wearside, Sunderland. She baked this doctor's bag-themed cake for a colleague of hers who is retiring as a GP after more than 40 years. The cake is an ordinary Victorian sponge, which is layered up until it resembled the shape of a doctor's bag. It is then covered in buttercream fondant. It took Christine almost five hours to make.

Eilidh Robb, 21, from Edinburgh baked this Tour de France-themed cake for her father's 50th birthday. Dave is a keen cyclist, and went to see the Tour de France when it went through the UK in 2014. It took two days to make as she carved each piece of fondant, from the bicycle to the spots resembling a cyclist's jersey.
