Kim Kardashian says the Paris robbery last year has made her a different, less materialistic person.

The reality TV star was robbed at gunpoint at a luxury flat in the French capital by at least two men dressed as police officers.

Talking on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the star says the incident was "meant to happen".

"I know this sounds crazy but I know that was meant to happen to me," she said on the US chat show.

"And I don't want to start crying but, I feel like that was so meant to happen to me, like I'm such a different person."

Last month, in a teaser clip released from the new series of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the 36-year-old talked about what it felt like during the robbery.

She said she thought she was going to die.

She was asked again about how she felt in the Ellen DeGeneres interview.

"I said a prayer, 'I'm going to heaven, I hope my kids are OK. My husband'.

"But you know, it does happen really fast, it was a good seven or eight minutes of torture but when I look back and I analyse it, it could have been way worse.

"So I don't want to sound like I'm not grateful. I'm out, I'm home, I'm safe, I'm such a better person. I'm... it's OK, let's move on."

During the chat, the star said her children - North West and Saint West - would now be brought up by a better version of her.

"I was definitely materialistic before," she admits.

"Not that there's anything bad with having things and working hard to get those things.

"But I'm so happy that my kids get this me and that this is who I'm raising my kids [as] because I just don't care about that stuff any more. I really don't."

Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian has reportedly lost 100,000 Instagram followers after paparazzi photos were published of her in a bikini while on holiday in Mexico, where she was celebrating her sister Kourtney's birthday.

Some on social media were upset with her, claiming the images reveal that she regularly airbrushes pictures of herself.

Kim Kardashian still has 98.8 million fans on Instagram.
