If you thought you'd be spending July out in the sunshine, you might want to change your plans.

Game Of Thrones returns this summer and promises to keep us sat indoors with the curtains closed, as the wildly popular show approaches its final series.

Season seven is the penultimate instalment of the HBO show, which has been on screens since 2011.

A new trailer for the series promises it'll be one of the most dramatic yet.

Here's what we've learned from studying the first trailer, along with a few hints of what we can expect to see when viewers return to Westeros this year.

Spoilers ahead, obviously.

Cersei is ready for war

"Whatever stands in our way, we will defeat it," says the mad queen in the trailer.

Which, if you know Cersei, is practically a pleasantry.

But then, so are Daenerys and Tyrion

Because this certainly doesn't look like they are working on a seating plan.

And surely Daenerys has the the upper hand...

...After all, the Targaryen queen is the one riding into battle with a giant dragon at her back.

If she can keep control of her fire-spewing pets this time, of course.

We've got an Unsullied showdown in Kings Landing

Daenerys' eunuch army appear to make it into the heart of Cersei's stronghold for what will no doubt be a blood-splattered, limb-severing battle where countless unnamed extras will meet the wrong end of a very sharp spear.

But don't worry, it's not all swords and skewering

Because there will be plenty of sex to keep everyone entertained - including a scene between Grey Worm and Missandei.

Brienne has found full-time work at Winterfell

Still loyal to Sansa, Brienne of Tarth is seen with two of the surviving Stark siblings as Jon Snow is hailed as "the king of the north".

We've not seen the last of the red witch

Last seen being banished from Winterfell by Jon Snow, the child-roasting, centuries-old red priestess is seen moping around on a cliff top, inevitably plotting her next act of unspeakable religious violence.

The Mountain has a new hat

Gregor Clegane, Kings Landing's favourite seven-foot zombie-swordsman (last seen doing unspeakable things to a nasty nun), is still lumbering around the corridors of Cersei's palace.

He's got a fancy new set of armour.

Things don't look good for Jorah

And you thought Roz Huntley from Line Of Duty had a manky arm.

It doesn't seem like his quest to rid himself of the greyscale disease is going quite to plan.

And (drum-roll please) there's a new chair to get excited about

Six series of Game Of Thrones have focused on the pursuit of the iron throne, but the must-have home furnishing in season seven may turn out to be Daenerys' impressive stone throne.

Strap on your breastplate and wax your saddle, Game Of Thrones returns on 16 July.
